Instantiate a template
Launch a new assessment from a template with one action, or with the full wizard for adjustments.
Instantiate a template
Templates exist to make creating an assessment fast. There are two ways to use one, depending on how much you want to adjust.
Quick launch
Use Quick Launch when the template is exactly right and you already know the candidate list.
- From Templates, open the template.
- Click Quick Launch.
- Optionally add candidates inline, then confirm.
- The new assessment is created in
DRAFTand Save as draft is offered. You can continue editing, or pay and send invitations from the assessment detail.
Use the full wizard
Use the Use Template flow when you want the full wizard open with the template pre-filled. This is the right path when you want to swap problems, adjust the schedule, or change the language list before launch.
- From Templates, open the template.
- Click Use Template.
- The wizard opens on Configuration with every field pre-filled from the template.
- Adjust anything, then continue through the five steps.
What carries over
| Carried over | Adjustable in the wizard |
|---|---|
| Name (as a default) | Yes |
| Role title | Yes |
| Duration | Yes |
| Languages | Yes |
| Schedule defaults | Yes |
| Email subject, body, sender name | Yes |
| Timezone | Yes |
| Problem set | Yes (up to the five-problem limit) |
What is fresh
The new assessment has a new id, an empty candidate list, no payment, no results, and no sharing. The previous assessment, if any, is untouched.
Recording the lineage
The new assessment stores the template id and the template version it was instantiated from. This is shown on the assessment detail page and means you can always trace a screen back to the template version that produced it, even years later.
Quick Launch is reversible
Quick Launch creates a DRAFT assessment. You can still edit, save, or delete it
before paying.
