Create a template from an assessment
Save an assessment's configuration, problem set, and email wording as a reusable template, and edit it later.
Create a template from an assessment
The fastest way to create a template is to save an existing assessment. The assessment must be one you own (or be an admin) and must have at least one problem selected.
Save from the assessment list or detail
- Open the assessment in the list or detail view.
- Click Save as template (the menu action on the row, or the button in the detail header).
- Enter a name and an optional description. The name is required and is what teammates will see in the Templates page.
- Choose Make shared if you want the template visible to the whole workspace. Leave it off for a private template.
- Confirm. The new template appears in the Templates list under Mine (or Shared, if you shared it).
What is captured
| Captured | Notes |
|---|---|
| Assessment name | Used as a default for the template name (you can rename) |
| Role title | Preserved |
| Duration | Preserved |
| Languages | Preserved |
| Schedule defaults | Window length, start buffer |
| Timezone | Preserved |
| Email subject, body, sender name | Preserved |
| CRM ID default | Preserved |
| Problem set | Slugs, order, difficulty |
What is not captured
Candidates, candidate statuses, payment method, payment status, results, notes, shortlists, sharing grants, and the assessment's own status.
Editing a template
Open a template, click Edit, and change any field. Editing creates a new version; the previous version is preserved for traceability. The change is reflected the next time someone Instantiates the template.
Archiving and restoring
Archive a template from the template's menu. Archived templates do not appear in the default list and cannot be instantiated. Use Unarchive to bring one back.
Versioning is automatic
You do not pick a version. Saving an edit increments the version. The version number is shown on the template detail and is recorded on every assessment created from the template, so you can answer "which version of the template produced this assessment" later.
